Um ano depois…o azeite! | One year later...the olive oil!

On the day that our blog turns 1 sweet little year of age, we show you this year's olive oil.
Similar to previous years we obtained an olive oil with a low degree of acidity. Of course it always depends on each person's sense of taste, but for us it's quite soft. There's nothing like brand new olive oil! Smell, colour and taste do not lie!

The (real) virgin olive oil is the one that is obtained from the fruit, pure, unrefined, no additives, and no other chemical process is used. For these reasons it's usually dark (golden green), thick, cloudy, and solidifies when cold. Nothing of this is bad. Rather, these are indicators that you are consuming pure real olive oil, unlike those sold at supermarkets where most are fake! Beware!!
The most appropriate container to conserve the olive oil should be a stainless steel tank, as it keeps its genuine flavour.

We have tasted olive oil stored in a plastic container and couldn't be worse. Olive oil acquires the smell and taste of plastic and becomes unpalatable.

And so the 2013 harvest has come to an end!

Next task, still this December, will be to start preparing seed starting trays for next spring and summer. For now, frost does not permit direct seeding. Not many crops are tolerant to cold.

We'll be back soon with some fresh news from the garden.
