A Horta em Fevereiro | The Garden in February

Scroll down for English version...

Estavam no sítio errado à hora errada!!

English version | The Garden in February

There are times of the year when you have to do absolutely everything in the garden. This is the time (if you live in the northern hemisphere)! Frost is gone, rainfall has given a rest, so now it's time for rock 'n' roll!

We have to divide the time between various tasks such as working the land, direct seeding, continuing the nurseries, pruning trees and vine, spraying with natural remedies, and even...relocating trees! Since we've already spoken a little bit about most of these tasks, we've decided to show you some new things.

Have you ever seen seedlings germinating in the nurseries? Here are some images of the awakening of  the plants, some of them still with the seed coat. Nature can be so tender!

And have you ever seen the transplanting of a tree? We had to relocate some. They were in the wrong place, at the wrong time! We needed free space for veggies and we still had room in the orchard, so relocation was inevitable.

Transplanting must be done during the period of dormancy. Therefore, it must be done in the winter before trees start to blossom. When transplanting, if the tree has shoots, you can try to propagate the tree as well. We made the experience and put the shoots in flowerpots. To protect them, we kept them in the greenhouse. Now we wait to see what happens.
