Homemade Natural Moisturizer

This is our first experience making natural products at home. A lot we have researched on this subject, but most recipes include somewhat dubious ingredients. Our intention is to use little or non-processed products and conciliate them with plants we already have at home. Thus, we decided to make it simple.

Here's a recipe of a moisturizer with just 3 ingredients:

Ingredients

  1. Aloe Vera: 4 tbsps of gel extracted directly from the plant. For those who don't have the plant it is also possible to buy gel.
  2. Almond oil: 2 tbsps
  3. Coconut oil: 2 tbsps

Why These Ingredients?

There's much to be said about all of them, but that's subject for other posts. Briefly, these are the benefits of each one:

Aloe Vera: the gel has regenerative properties and protects the skin from UV rays

Almond oil: contains vitamin E and D, softens, calms, and soothes the skin

Coconut oil: is anti-bacterial, anti-oxidant, and moisturizing (and smells wonderful!)

How To Do It?

Place the gel in a bowl and add the almond oil. Start mixing. You'll see that Aloe Vera will start absorbing the almond oil.
If the coconut oil is solid, melt it and add it to the mixture. To melt it you can put it in a bain marie (water bath), use the hair dryer or other source of heat that's warm enough for this purpose. This oil will be absorbed as well.
At the end, put the mixture in a blender, chopper or food processor so the ingredients are well mixed and get liquid enough. At first it might seem too liquid, but the coconut oil will create the right texture.
That's it! A natural, nourishing, healthy, homemade, and super fragrant moisturizer.

Warning!! Keep out of reach of children and pets!! Smells so good that it feels like eating!!
It has, however, the advantage that the strong smell of coconut oil tends to fade a little and makes the smell more subtle.

Because this was the first experience, we made it in a small quantity and this recipe returned about 50ml of moisturizer. It's not necessary to put it in the cold, unless you live in a very warm region.

When making natural products at home, never forget to check if you are allergic to the ingredients of each recipe.

Products we usually buy for this recipe and recommend for their high quality.
