Ingredients

Why These Ingredients?

Coconut Oil: It is anti-bacterial, anti-oxidant, moisturizing, and has a wonderful smell! Coconut oil solidifies under 25ºC which contributes to the stability and texture of the balm.

Beeswax: This is the ingredient that effectively provides hardness to the balm in addition to being very nutritious and moisturizing for the skin of the lips.

Shea Butter: This butter, which comes from the African tree with the same name, is highly nutritious and widely used in natural cosmetics. It as a peculiar flavour...

Cocoa Butter: It is very moisturizing and has a sweet and pleasant smell and taste. We mix a little of the two, as they balance each other. If you put only Shea butter, it will have the peculiar flavour of Shea. If you put only Cocoa butter, it becomes very sweet. A balance between the two is ideal.

Raw Honey: Raw honey is honey as it is extracted from the beehive, without any dubious mixture or industrial process. The presence of honey in lip balm is very pleasant, in addition to the benefits that honey has for the skin.

May Chang Essential Oil: Also known as Litsea Cubeba, this is an Asian shrub, whose fruits produce an essential oil with an absolutely incredible smell! It has numerous medicinal properties and is also widely used in natural cosmetics. We use this one but, if you do it at home, you can use other oils of your choice, as long as you don't use the citrus essential oils because these are photosensitive.

All products used in this recipe are natural, unrefined and, where possible, organic.

How To Make It?

  1. Add the fats one by one in a container in a bain-marie and stir until melted.
  2. Remove from the heat and add the essential oil.
  3. Pour into lip balm containers. They can be tubes or jars.
  4. As it cools, it hardens naturally. Allow to cool completely before using.
